The Addition ~ 27

THREE WEEKS LATER

"Mom, how do I look," CJ asked as she walked out of the bedroom.

"Oh CJ," her mother said, tears in her eyes. "You look so beautiful. I always wanted to live to see the day my little girl was going to get married, and here it is." She got a tissue and wiped her eyes.

"Mom, please, you said you wouldn't cry."

"Mothers always cry at their daughter's wedding. It's a must." She smiled a little.

"Mama!" Maddie said, walking into the room.

"Well aren't you a sight for sore eyes," CJ said, looking at her little two year old flower girl.

Maddie smiled. "I pwetty?"

"You are very pretty." CJ picked her up and kissed her head.

Maddie smiled and blushed.

"Come over here, Maddie, let me see that dress on you," Lauren said. She started crying all over again. "Oh, you look so beautiful," she said to her granddaughter.

"Gwandma sad?" Maddie asked, a scared look that she had hurt her grandmother's feelings on her face.

"No, I'm very happy. You're just so beautiful."

There was then a knock at the door. "Who is it," CJ said.

"It's us," Donna said from the other side.

CJ opened the door and saw Donna, Carol, Ginger, Bonnie, and Margaret. "Come on in," she said.

"Oh CJ, you look gorgeous," Margaret said. "You have a great taste in wedding dresses."

"Thank you," CJ said. "So are my bridesmaids all ready to go?"

"We are indeed, but first we wanted to all give you something," Ginger said.

"What's that?"

Donna walked over to CJ. "Well, you know the old tradition, something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue?"

"Yes..."

"Well, I wanted to give you this." Donna opened a small box to reveal a pin in the shape of a crescent moon.

"Oh Donna, this is beautiful."

"My best friend gave it to me when she moved away. She said that if I ever were to find another best friend, that I should give it to her, and well, you've been a great friend to me. I'd like you to have it."

"Thank you, Donna." CJ had tears in her eyes as she hugged her.

"Want me to help you put it on?"

"Sure, thanks." Donna put the pin on CJ.

"It looks great on you." Her mother said. The others all nodded in agreement.

Bonnie then stepped forward. "I wanted to give you this," she said, opening the box. Inside there was a bracelet.

"Bonnie, it's beautiful, thank you so much." CJ hugged Bonnie.

"You're welcome. I saw it and immediately thought of you." She smiled as CJ put it on.

Carol stepped forward. "I wanted to give you this borrowed item," she said, handing CJ a box.

CJ opened it. "Oh Carol, a garter," she smiled.

"Well, my mother gave it to me when I turned 21 so I would have one when I get married, but for now, I'd like you to have it."

"Thank you, that means so much." She gave Carol a hug.

Ginger and Margaret stepped forward. "We wanted to both give you something blue," Ginger said.

"So here you go," Margaret said, holding a bag.

CJ opened the bag. Inside was a bouquet of blue flowers. "Oh, these are lovely, thank you!" She hugged the two of them.

"You're welcome," they said together.

"You guys don't know how much this means to me," CJ said, tears now starting to form in her eyes. She felt so lucky to have such wonderful friends. They all then began to get ready. They helped CJ with everything. Her hair, makeup, they even helped Maddie to get ready. CJ sighed. She was so happy.
