Adjustments ~ 16

"Why don't we move this to the bedroom?" Toby asked grinning.

"I would really like that." CJ smiled and kissed him again. They both walked up stairs, hand in hand.

"Let me check on Derek first, I'll meet you there." Toby smiled.

"I'll be waiting." CJ kissed him again and walked into their bedroom. Toby walked into Derek's room and saw that he was still fast asleep. Toby bent over and kissed him on the forehead. He smiled and walked back out and shut the door.

"I'm back." Toby whispered as he walked back into his bedroom. He laid down on his side and rubbed his hand over CJ's back and began kissing her on the neck. "I love you CJ." Toby whispered in her ear. But he didn't get the response that he thought he would get. A snoring CJ. "CJ?" Toby asked as he rolled her over on her back and saw her eyes close. "Are you kidding me?" Toby growled. Toby looked at her for a little longer and smiled. She looked so beautiful when she was sleeping. Toby kissed her on the cheek before resting his head next to hers. He yawned once, but then fell fast asleep.

The next morning, all three woke up bright and early so that Toby and CJ could take Derek to school.

"Do I have to go," he whined.

"Yes, you have to go for the millionth time," CJ said. "Here, eat some breakfast. It'll help calm you down." He ate his toast and cereal. CJ looked from him to Toby and back to Derek and smiled. Derek was eating the same way Toby was eating. "Come on you two, it's time to go."

"Already," they both said at the same time.

"What are you two, twins? Come on, let's go, and we're taking *my* car today," CJ said as they walked into the garage.

"Why can't we take mine," Toby asked.

"Well, for one thing, it snowed last night and I don't feel like taking a bunch of snow off of a car, and you didn't park in the garage again, so chances are, your car is probably dead again," she said with a smirk.

"Yeah, yeah," he said as he helped Derek get his seatbelt on. Toby then got in the car, as did CJ. She turned the key to start the car, but nothing happened. She tried again...and again...and again.

"Now who's wrong," Toby said as he laughed a little.

"I don't get it. It was fine yesterday."

"Looks like we're going to go dig out a car, doesn't it?" He got out of the car and went to his.

After ten minutes, they got the car uncovered. Toby got in to start it, and to the amazment of CJ, it started.

"See, my car can be trusted." Toby smiled and patted his car.

"Oh, shut up." CJ growned and helped Derek in.

"This is fun, can we do this every morning?" Derek smiled.

"If we do, kill me now." CJ mumbled and got in.

"Smile CJ. It's going to be a great day. Derek's first day at school. I brought the camera." Toby held it up.

"Oh God." Derek moaned.

"And we get to start a new day fresh. And believe you me, I'm very happy about that one." Toby said sarcastically as he backed out of the driveway.

"Trust me, so am I." CJ agreed.

"Mom. Since I'm probably going to be late for school again, can I please stay with you guys?"

"You're not going to be late." CJ smiled and hit Toby.

"Hurry." Toby glared at her then sped up, not seeing the cop car that was on the side of the road. The next thing he heard was sirens.

"Nice going moron!" CJ yelled.

"Don't even start, you were the one who told me to go faster!" Toby said while pulling over.

"Oh, and when did you start listening to me?" CJ snapped back.

"When you started abusing me!" Toby yelled. "I'm black and blue because of you."

"Good one dad, that rhymes." Derek laughed.

"Thank you." Toby smiled.

"Don't bring him in the middle of this!" CJ hit him again.

"I didn't!" Toby yelled back. "And stop hitting me."

"Guys..."

"I'll stop hitting you when you start behaving."

"Guys..."

"I'm the man in this relationship, I'm supposed to have some kind of respect."

"Guys..."

"Men don't get respect! That's what woman are for!"

"Guys!" Derek yelled.

"What!" Toby and CJ both screamed at the same time.

"The police officer is outside you door. He looks mad." Derek pointed to the police officer.

"I'm sorry." Toby rolled down the window quickly. "So sorry."

"Sir, do you know how fast you were going back there," the officer asked Toby in a rather annoyed voice.

"Um...40?"

"65. You were going 65 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone."

"I'm sorry sir, but my son, well he was going to be late for his first day of school."

"First day?" The officer looked even angrier.

"Well, we just moved."

"You look awfully familiar."

"Uh, I don't know how I could," Toby said. "I don't believe we have ever had the pleasure of meeting one another." CJ hit Toby in the leg again. He glared at her.

"Well, I'll let you go with a warning this time, but please know that you cannot speed here. You are very near a school."

"Yes sir," Toby said. The officer walked back to his car and drove away.

"Well, that was fun," CJ said sarcastically. "I wonder what is next in our lovely day."
