"Hey Derek." Jack walked in. "Cool cast!"
"I know. They let me pick a color." Derek smiled. "I can divide."
"Cool." Jack smiled.
"Did you have a good time with my dad?"
"It was so cool. He took me to the White House and I met the President. I told him I was going to be President one day and you were going to be the Communications Director."
"That's right." Derek nodded. "The future is in our hands."
"That's spooky."
"I know." Derek laughed. "You want to sign my cast?"
"Cool." Jack grabbed a marker and started writing.
"Can I draw something too?"
"Sure."
"I'm going to draw the White House." Jack said while getting started.
"This math stuff is so easy, what was my problem?"
"Same as me, it takes too much time." Jack laughed. "I really don't want to leave tomorrow man, I mean, I hate it at home. I'm always alone and stuff."
"Don't worry, I'm sure something good will happen. Look at me, I didn't have a home one minute and now I have a mom, dad, brother, and sister."
"Maybe one day that will happen to me." Jack smiled.
"Done."
"Let me see." Derek smiled and looked down. "Dang, that's really good." Derek said amazed at the life-like drawing on his cast. "It looks like the White House."
Jack smiled. "That's because it is supposed to be the White House, silly."
"I know, I just didn't know that you were going to do such an awesome job. Man, you could really be a great artist, you know that?"
"You think so?" Jack asked.
"Yeah, I mean, look at your drawing!"
"I guess it's okay..."
"Okay? It's awesome!"
"Thanks." Jack put the marker down. "So, what else do you have to do for homework?"
"I have to write that speech thing for class."
"Oh yeah, that."
"Yeah, the one where we have to interview a scientist or someone who knows something about space. I have no clue who--"
"What is it?" Jack asked.
"I think I just thought of the perfect person!"
"Who?"
"My dad's brother. He was in a space ship a couple of years ago. He's an astronaut." Derek smiled proudly. "I just have to get the number."
"Your dad will be really proud of you."
"I hope so. Hey, would you mind getting my mom for me? I want to ask her first, just to see what she thinks."
"Sure, no problem." Jack smiled and walked downstairs.
"Have I ever told you how much I love you?" CJ smiled and wrapped her arms around Toby.
"Not today." Toby smirked. "Have I ever told you how good you smell." He buried his face in her neck.
"Stop..." CJ began to giggle.
"Um..." Jack said from the back room. "Sorry to interrupt, but Derek wants to talk with CJ." Jack said with a disgusted look on his face.
"Ok." CJ grinned and pushed Toby off her. "Down boy."
She laughed while walking upstairs.
"What?" Toby glared over at Jack.
"That was gross dude." Jack shook his head.
"You know what 'Dude', she's a very lovely woman."
"I don't like girls." Jack said. "There're all mean."
"You just don't know how to handle them."
"Oh, and you do?" Jack laughed.
"I've been married four times now, including CJ."
"See, that tells me that you're not good with women." Jack laughed. "If you were
good, you wouldn't have had to get married more then once."
"You're bringing me down dude." Toby moaned.
"How did you get CJ?"
"She wanted me for my body." Toby grinned.
"I'm leaving." Jack gave Toby a gross look and ran upstairs.
"Well, she did." Toby smiled at the babies.
UPSTAIRS.....
"What's going on," CJ asked as she walked into Derek's room.
"Oh, I was just wondering if you could give me Uncle David's phone number," Derek said a little nervously.
"Why do you need his phone number?"
"For a school thing. I have to interview a scientist or someone who knows a lot about space. Uncle David knows both."
"Yes, but did you know that he and your father aren't on the best of terms at the moment?"
"Well yeah, but..."
"No buts. I don't think it's a good idea."
"Please mom?" Derek pleaded. "I really want to get a good grade on this."
She sighed. "I don't know."
